“Once again, Megan Miranda has crafted the perfect summer thriller. The Last House Guest is twisty and tense, with a pace that made my heart race. An edge-of-your-seat, up-all-night read.” —Riley Sager, New York Times bestselling author of The Last Time I Lied

“Dizzying plot twists and multiple surprise endings are this author's stock in trade, but she warms them up by establishing the close friendship between Sadie Loman...and Avery Greer...And, oh boy, does she ever know how to write a twisty-turny ending (or two, or more).” —Marilyn Stasio, The New York Times Book Review

“No one can be trusted in the latest chilling thriller from master of suspense, Megan Miranda. The Last House Guest is a lightning-fast mystery, full of menace and unexpected twists and turns that will have readers on the edge of their seats. A riveting read!” —Mary Kubica, New York Times bestselling author of The Good Girl

Littleport, Maine, has always felt like two separate towns: an ideal vacation enclave for the wealthy, whose summer homes line the coastline; and a simple harbor community for the year-round residents whose livelihoods rely on service to the visitors.

Typically, fierce friendships never develop between a local and a summer girl—but that’s just what happens with visitor Sadie Loman and Littleport resident Avery Greer. Each summer for almost a decade, the girls are inseparable—until Sadie is found dead. While the police rule the death a suicide, Avery can’t help but feel there are those in the community, including a local detective and Sadie’s brother, Parker, who blame her. Someone knows more than they’re saying, and Avery is intent on clearing her name, before the facts get twisted against her.

Another thrilling novel from the bestselling author of All the Missing Girls and The Perfect Stranger, Megan Miranda’s The Last House Guest is a smart, twisty read with a strong female protagonist determined to make her own way in the world.

Felt no connection to the characters. Was “surprised” by the twist ending but not enough to care. This was the first Reese’s Book Club choice that was a total miss for me.
  • A pretty good read

Nice twists and turns that I was not expecting. It is a little too long though; could have been wrapped up sooner. Would still recommend it. Enjoy......

I really enjoyed the vivid imagery in this book with all the descriptions of this little Northern coastal town. It helped to create the characters and who they were at their core. However, I felt the main character, Avery, was a little bit under-developed and there weren’t enough details given towards the end when the climax hit. As I was reading I kept wanting the author to give me more details about HOW this happened, rather than Avery just figuring it out and saying it. So, a little disappointed in the way it all tied together without much explanation, and a little underwhelmed with the depth of Avery’s character. Overall really enjoyed the book though. It kept me guessing til right up to the end which was nice.

The plot worked for me. I did not se the end coming. It is a bit wordy and repetitive, not helping the flow or need to read the next page.
