Description

Listen to the brand new dramatisation of How To Be a Woman, narrated by Caitlin herself, as part of BBC Radio 4's Riot Girls season

Selected by Emma Watson for her feminist book club ‘Our Shared Shelf’

It's a good time to be a woman: we have the vote and the Pill, and we haven't been burnt as witches since 1727. However, a few nagging questions do remain...

Why are we supposed to get Brazilians? Should we use Botox? Do men secretly hate us? And why does everyone ask you when you're going to have a baby?

Part memoir, part rant, Caitlin answers the questions that every modern woman is asking.

Funny, thought-provoking and honest - a book every woman should read. Am going to give this to my three teenage daughters. Truly liberating!

I've learnt a lot about feminism from this and have actually become a feminist after reading it. Not bad given that I'm a 50 yr old bloke.

Ridiculously hypocritical! Humorous, at times, but arguments are far too inconsistent.

Refreshingly honest and open, inspiring and insightful, yet still manages to make you laugh out loud! I'm passing it on to all my girl friends - you will wish you had rid it earlier!

I'm not one to believe the hype usually but with this book,it's all true! It is both brutally honest and heartwarming and yes,I did laugh out loud a few times ( embarrassingly on a plane!) but it's so worth the odd looks, thanks for opening your life and head to us Caitlin!
  • Where have you been all my life?

Strong and feisty, articulate and funny. This is an astonishing book, which I recommend for all aspiring sensitive, thinking grown-ups and that's the boys and the gals, both. Caitlin writes with such humanity about the joys and all the perplexing, " is it just me ?" stuff that shapes us as we career into womanhood. This book could be just the parachute that helps us make a safe landing, albeit with our skirts over our head and looking a bit 'Whoof! I made it!" And the celebration of living, not just existing, at the heart of this book makes it a joy to read.
