"Consistently pulse-raising. . .an exhilarating ride. . .Personal wrests back the sheer gusto of the earlier novels; it's the best Reacher adventure in some considerable time." (Independent)

Jack Reacher walks alone.

Once a go-to hard man in the US military police, now he’s a drifter of no fixed abode. But the army tracks him down. Because someone has taken a long-range shot at the French president.

Only one man could have done it. And Reacher is the one man who can find him.

This new heartstopping, nailbiting book in Lee Child’s number-one bestselling series takes Reacher across the Atlantic to Paris – and then to London.

The stakes have never been higher - because this time, it’s personal.

Although the Jack Reacher novels can be read in any order, Personal is 19th in the series.

A good read, intriguing storyline and full of English gangster knowledge
  • One Shot the movie

Mr Child, I have got to get this off my chest. Never have I felt so betrayed and dismayed at the casting of Tom Cruise as Jack Reacher. I had read every book with relish and loved the character and couldn't wait for the first film and then you hit us with a travesty, a total mis cast and not true to your writings. I think Tom Cruise is a brilliant and versatile actor but he is not even close to being Jack Reacher. Many years ago it would have been Clint Eastwood but currently it is Hugh Jackman all day long. If you are considering further films please please do not betray the marvellous character you created again and cast a 6 ft plus hard case. Rant over but it had to be said as it was such an astonishing decision. Steve Cobb Essex, UK

  • Slow, and a little tired

    By IanCat
A big disappointment for me, my first Jack Reacher novel that was actually just dull. Start and finish good enough, but the large, slow middle in London was just endless pages of really not very much. Maybe we can forgive the movie nonsense of Tom Cruise in platform shoes pretending to be Reacher, but can't really forgive such a boring, ponderous read - was actually glad to finish it. So - is it time for Lee Child to put Jack in a retirement home ?

This is sadly the first Jack Reacher book that I really didn't like, having read everyone of the previous books by Lee Child. The story was like a picture all done with mirrors, with no real substance to it. Surely Jack Reacher must be so getting too old to maintain the strength and speed that he is known for.
  • Brilliant!

Classic Reacher story. Loved it, couldn't put it down. Ignore negative reviews and enjoy!

I have read every single lee child book, so was eagerly awaiting this one. Read it straightaway and it seems fake and "going through the motions". Think it's one book too far for the Reacher character. Disappointing.

Personal So disappointed, having read all the Reacher novels and often marvelled at the writing of Mr Child, this book just does not cut it, the plot is paper thin and characters just not believable. From previously keeping me hooked so I couldn't put the book down until it was finished, with Personal at times I really didn't want to carry on, if it was a film I would have turned off after 10 minutes. I didn't think A Wanted Man had the same qualities as previous books but I succumbed to the addiction of the character Jack Reacher, alas Mr Child I think it's time poor Jack hung up his toothbrush and called it a day, however thank you for the memories. Better, so much better than the last one, at least I now have Tom Sellick in my minds eye again and not that dwarf Tom Cruise. Mr Child you should never have sold out to allow Cruse to play the part but this latest story is a return to your best, had me all the way and I read it all in one day which is a first for me. I could not out it down except to take another sip of Amstel Thank you from Coventry
